Due Date Week

 39 Week Bump

This week is my due date week!  It doesn't even seem real that baby Smith could arrive any day now.  I haven't felt any contractions or big changes so I don't think he will be arriving on his due date (March 27th).  Matt and I both think he will decide to come late, but we will see!  The nursery is pretty much all done (photos coming soon) and the car seat is hooked up and ready to go.  We had an ultrasound yesterday and he is about 7 pounds 11 ounces right now.  We have a favorite name picked out, but probably won't make an official decision until we meet him.

On a random side note: yesterday, my friend and I made freezer crock pot meals.  If you haven't heard of these, look them up on Pinterest!  This is a great idea for easy and healthy weeknight meals.  Just by planning ahead, I spent less money at the grocery store than usual and a couple hours prepping 8 meals that I am storing in the freezer to be thrown in the crock pot.  Seriously, check it out!

Those are the latest pregnancy updates!  In the meantime, I will be puttering around the house and finishing up last minute errands, slathering on Mama Mio Tummy Rub Oil (I love this stuff) and wearing stretchy clothing.  Oh and forgetting what I am talking about mid-sentence... preggers brain does exist my friends!

Maternity Photos

While daydreaming about taking our maternity photos, I had visions of frolicking through the forest, bare foot like it was the middle of July or something?  Turns out that taking photos in March (in Portland, Oregon) doesn't typically call for sunshine and blue skies.  Instead of roaming around the forest, we pulled the car over and took some quick photos on the side of the road... while getting drenched by the rain.  I was determined to wear my wedding dress (now shortened), even though it's a little ridiculous to be wearing a white dress out in the rain.  You might be wondering how I was able to fit into my wedding dress at 37 weeks pregnant.  Well, the beauty of this dress (other than the fact that it is made of yummy french silk lace) is in the bias cut of the fabric.  Magic, I tell you!

A big thanks to Matt's cousin, Colleen who got soaked in the rain while taking these photos of us at 37 weeks pregnant!  We are so thankful that we will have these to look back on and show baby Smith someday.  I can't believe how soon he will be here!

Baby Shower

Matt holding his 1 week old nephew
 32 Weeks
This weekend my mother-in-law threw a lovely baby shower for me and we had the bonus of meeting our week old nephew!  Matt and I grilled the new parents with all kinds of questions and then basically sat and stared at our new nephew.  It's amazing how a tiny sleeping baby can entertain an entire room full of people.  Seeing this precious new life made us even more excited for our little guy!

Thank you to all of the ladies who threw such a special shower for baby Smith & I!

31 Weeks

We got to spend this past weekend in Sunriver Oregon and as you can see, it was beautiful!  I am currently 31 weeks in my pregnancy and we took advantage of this picturesque scenery as the backdrop to take some belly photos.  It's crazy how quickly this pregnancy is going by!  I thought we would have plenty of time to get ready for the baby and all of a sudden it feels like he will be here so soon.  We are in the process of getting the nursery ready, which is something I am anxious to finish.  I guess because it is the one thing I have control over, I am annoyingly obsessed with finishing the room.  Even though the baby could care less what his room looks like, I want to know that we are bringing our baby home to a complete and organized room.  That will be one less thing I have to worry about.  As of now, "baby" remains nameless...

In other baby related news, my sister-in-law had her baby boy this weekend!  He is the cutest little bundle of joy and I can't wait to meet him.  Seeing her holding the little guy made it all so much more real that our baby boy will be here soon too.  I am so excited for our boys to grow up together!

27 Weeks

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  I am now at 27 weeks and wanted to share a little update on pregnancy so far.  Highlights include feeling the baby kick, punch and move around!  The baby's movements have gotten stronger each week and are becoming easier to feel.  Putting on socks is becoming harder, which makes sense considering it feels like I am trying to lean over with a basketball under my shirt.  We still have not decided on a name.  It is such a big decision and for some reason we are having a harder time coming up with boy names then we did with girl names.  I finally gave in and bought some maternity clothes at Gap.  I originally didn't want to buy maternity clothes and didn't think I would need to, but maternity jeans and stretchy long shirts are so much more comfortable!  It is hard to get creative with outfits considering all I ever want to wear are leggings.  Comfort is the first priority when getting dressed in the morning!  A favorite product that I purchased a couple months ago is Mama Mio Tummy Rub - it has relieved my skin of feeling itchy and dry.  I was on the search for a good stretch mark / moisturizing cream and gave this a try and have been really happy with it so far.  Who knows if I will end up getting stretch marks, but it has drastically improved the look and feel of my skin in this dry, cold weather.

Those are the random changes, updates and thoughts currently happening at 27 weeks pregnant.

Plus One

We are so excited to share that we are having a baby!  I am currently 22 weeks along and so far the pregnancy has gone smoothly.  Thank goodness!  I was fortunate to not get morning sickness and my energy has started to increase during the second trimester.  Looking forward to this journey with our little plus one!
Oh, and in case you are wondering...
Baby boy Smith is due March 27th!
We are so thankful for this blessing from God.

{ A big thanks to Colleen Murphy for the photos! }

On a different note, for those of you wondering about Matt's
mustache - he is participating in Movember to raise awareness and funds for Men's health.
