One Month

A family friend was generous enough to take photos of Jackson at 3 weeks old and we are so thankful to have these photos to look back on and show Jackson someday!  As I write this post, Jackson is now 1 month old.  The last month has gone by very quickly - parts of it are a total blur.  Each day has its challenges and joys.  I was told by friends that my emotions would be a series a "ups" and "downs," but I wasn't prepared for the reality of that.  It's crazy how one day I feel like I've got this thing whole motherhood thing down and then other days feel like a chaotic disaster.  Matt gets home from work at 5:30 in the evening and I am still wearing my pajamas, Jackson is crying and I've cried numerous times throughout the day.  Those are the days that I wasn't prepared for.  How can you be prepared for the challenges of breastfeeding and sleep deprivation?  I have always been a 9 hours of sleep gal, so getting up in the middle of the night is hard.  I also had no idea how difficult breastfeeding can be.  I thought it would come naturally, but now that I am struggling with it and talking to other women - I am finding that many women have had struggles with breastfeeding as well.  Despite the challenging parts of motherhood, the joys far outweigh the hard  times.  I look at Jackson's tiny fingers and toes and am in awe of this beautiful miracle from God.  We are beyond blessed to have this healthy baby boy in our lives.

life through instagram

Life lately, has been busy and exciting!  I don't always haul my big camera around and am thankful that I can at least capture a moment with my phone.  Sometimes it's those little joys in life that we don't plan for, that make for a great photo opportunity.  For my 25th birthday, Matt surprised me with tickets to see Wicked!  When he told me, I jumped up and down like an 8 year old and remained like one throughout the entire production...wide eyed and sitting on the edge of my seat.  We even had little sippy cups with straws (filled with wine, of course)!  Other highlights include a dinner party with some lovely ladies, celebrating St. Patrick's day with nails painted green, pretty spring flowers, eating Voodoo doughnuts for the first time and a Blazer's game!

Our Wedding Day

Our wedding day was perfect. Well technically, not everything went as planned - it rained. Let me re-phrase that - it down poured! This forced us to move the planned outdoor ceremony location indoors. For those of you who know me, this may come as a surprise to know that I didn't care at all! Even after all of my careful planning and making sure every detail would be in place for our wedding day, I no longer cared! My parents, a group of family & friends and the country club staff moved some of the chairs inside and wiped them down (because everything was soaking wet) and even moved the arbor inside that my dad made for us to get married under. Meanwhile (during all this craziness), I was with my bridesmaids dancing and singing along to "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz on repeat. It's funny to think back on how much time, planning and money went into details like the table centerpieces and during the wedding I didn't even stop to notice how they looked. That's when I realized that all of those details that seemed so important during the planning process, really don't matter at all - even to someone like me who loves design/decor details. I was marrying the love of my life and best friend and nothing could stop me. Here are some of my favorite photos from our wedding day taken by Nate Broshot. Nate is an energetic and incredibly talented photographer whose creative eye managed to capture our personalities to the fullest.  Nate's dedication to his work truly showed as he was seen sprinting throughout the reception and even jumping up and down (dancing) while taking photos at the same time. Enjoy!
